HSE University offers a unique opportunity for international students to study for a week in an International Study Tour Experience. The application period is from October 22 to November 16, 2020

HSE University has improved its positions in the US News Best Global Universities institutional and subject rankings. For the first time, the University ranks among the top 100 universities in the world for mathematics. HSE is also the only Russian university in the subject rankings of Economics and Business and Social Sciences and Public Health, placing among the top 300 in both categories.

Every October, HSE University sums up the results of that year’s international student admissions campaign. This year, due to the pandemic, the University quickly reorganized admissions procedures and began holding all events and consultations remotely. In total, 9,324 students from 156 countries applied to undergraduate and graduate programmes at HSE University. For the 2020/2021 year, HSE welcomed 2,214 students from all over the world to its campuses. This is an 11% increase in international enrollments from last year.

This year, the Expert Analytical Centre’s ranking of Russian entrepreneurial universities evaluated 46 universities, 18 of which are participants of Russia’s 5-100 Project. In the ranking, HSE, together with Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University, took 2^nd-4^th places, while MIPT ranked first. The ranking’s methodology places special emphasis on startups launched by university graduates, the number of founding graduates at these companies, and the amount of investments these projects have received.

HSE University continues to expand its online presence with the launch of a Spanish-language admissions website. Now the University is making it even easier for Spanish-speaking students to apply to one of Russia's best universities.

Amiran Karatsev won the 2020 HSE Global Scholarship Competition (GSC) in Tajikistan in subjects that are not usually taught in high school: philosophy and psychology. Amiran spoke to HSE News Service about the advantages of participating in person, why some of the Competition tasks have no correct answer, and how to not only effectively prepare for it, but have fun while doing it. The Central Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ZEvA) determined that the HSE Bachelor’s programme in ‘Sociology’ and the HSE Master’s programme in ‘Comparative Social Research’ meet international educational quality standards. Both programmes have been accredited unconditionally for six years.

This year, the Master’s Programme ‘Strategic Management in Logistics’, offered by the HSE Graduate School of Business, ranked 34^th in the Supply Chain Management Programme ranking, a new addition to the QS Business Masters Rankings. This is the fifth HSE programme to be included the QS Business Rankings. Four others have ranked among the top 100 for several years now.

Arina Smirnova (Kyrgyzstan) knows like no other what it is like to start all over again and achieve her goals in spite of everything.
