This year, HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod will launch its Master of Computer Vision programme on Coursera. The fully online programme has been developed by leading experts from Huawei, ItSeez3D, Intel, Harman, and Xperience AI. It will be taught in English and is open to applicants from all countries. The closing date for applications is August 16, 2021.

HSE University’s online Master of Data Science programme trains specialists in contemporary data analysis, machine learning development, and research. The applications are accepted until July 19. Students of the programme hail from over 30 countries including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, the USA, Canada, China, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, and Switzerland. Mehmet Namli (UAE) and Alexander Olekhnovich (Russia) spoke about how they decided to become part of the global data scientist community and shared their impressions of studying remotely at HSE University.

Maria Belousova, an applicant from Uzbekistan, will become a first-year student at HSE University in autumn 2021. She will study at the HSE University Moscow campus in the School of Foreign Languages. The  News Service asked Maria why she chose HSE University, why she was interested in her chosen educational programme and how difficult it was to apply for University remotely.

Enrolment is underway for the HSE Institute of Education’s new Master's programme, Science of Learning and Assessment, which was developed at the intersection of developmental science, advanced methods of neuroscience and psychometrics, and the theory and practice of testing and measurement. Students will learn to assess human development and adjust the learning process, relying on evidence-based approaches of neuroscience and current concepts of measuring skills, personality characteristics, competencies, and other complex constructs.

Ljiljana Filipović, from Croatia, is currenttly studying in the Master in International Management programme at the HSE Graduate School of Business. This year she was also helping international students with Russian language in 'Russian speaking club' organized by International Prep Year programme. International students can submit their applications to HSE University’s Master’s programmes until August 10. Jack Miles, from the UK, and Agustin Lira, from Chile, have already been enrolled in Master’s programmes and will begin their studies in September 2021. In an interview with HSE News Service, they talk about their experience applying to HSE University and the advantages they see in studying in Moscow.

Several representatives of HSE University took part in the seventh Times Higher Education Young Universities Summit, organized jointly with HSE University on June 22-23 and held entirely online. The Summit focused on the global outlook for higher education and opportunities for new growth for young universities.

At the end of 2020, the Academic Council of HSE University approved a new educational standard for Master’s programmes, which expands learners’ options in designing their own educational trajectories. It also places a bigger emphasis on project work. The standard will take effect in the 2021/2022 academic year for 33 participating programmes at the pilot stage.The HSE Look met with Sergey Roshchin, Vice Rector for the University’s degree programmes, and discussed the new measures.

HSE has strengthened its top position and widened its lead over Moscow State University, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and other universities in the Forbes Best Russian Universities Ranking. The main contributors to this advancement, according to Forbes, were the improvement in the average Russian Unified State Exam (USE) score of accepted students, a better faculty-student ratio, and younger staff. This year, HSE University also leads the employer survey.

HSE University has improved its indicators of research, international outlook, and industry income in THE Young University Rankings. HSE University now ranks 57^th among  475 international universities and is the only Russian university in the Top 100.
