Math in Moscow, a joint programme run by the Independent University of Moscow, the Moscow Centre for Continuous Mathematical Education and the Higher School of Economics, is accepting applications for the spring 2016 semester until September 30. The Math in Moscow programme for international students has been giving young mathematicians from different countries the opportunity to learn from the best Russian teachers. On August 15, the second HSE Summer University drew to a close. The number of participants in this year's programmer nearly tripled with 103 students coming from 15 countries. This included both independent students as well at five organized groups from Seoul National University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Miami University, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) MA graduate Maria Titova will this year continue her studies at the University of California, San Diego (US), where she will study for a PhD in Economics. Maria has received an offer of studying, fully funded, on 8 different PhD programmes in the United States and Great Britain, including University of Wisconsin - Madison, University of Rochester, Boston University, Boston College, Pennsylvania State University, Washington University in Saint-Louis, University College London, and the Vienna Graduate School of Economics.
August 5 marked the final deadline for applications from international students to HSE English-taught Master’s programmes starting September 2015. This year saw a radical growth in applications from abroad, with more than five times the number of applications from last year. At a minimum, every region doubled in terms of applications when comparing the 2015 cycle to the 2014 cycle. In Africa and Asia, the increase was even more staggering. Out of the roughly 800 international applicants to HSE English-taught Master's programmes, 196 students were accepted. The growth in the number of full-degree international students studying HSE is fundamental to the university’s overall development as a global university.
Last week, the Summer School on Russian-Chinese Business: Cultural and Legal Aspects came to an end. The School saw the participation of students from HSE Nizhny Novgorod and from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) in Chongqing, China.
