Visit to HSE Allowed International Students Learn both about the University and Social Entrepreneurship in Russia

On August 30, a delegation of students and instructors from the People's Republic of China visited HSE University. The meeting was initiated by the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation representatives.

On August 30, a delegation of students and instructors from the People's Republic of China visited HSE University. The meeting was initiated by the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation representatives.

HSE Education & Training Advisory Centre for International Students held a general presentation about HSE University, its history, rankings, academic programmes, living in Moscow and the application process for international citizens which is made simple, transparent and online. Chinese professors perceived the fact that the system of higher education in Russia was quite similar to the Chinese one. Moreover, they were particularly interested in research and scientific cooperation with HSE University.

The second presentation was conducted by Alexandra Moskovskaya, Director of Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Studies at HSE University. The presentation was dedicated to the Foundation's main sphere of activity – social entrepreneurship. A. Moskovskaya introduced the system of social entrepreneurship in Russia, its peculiarities and differences from social entrepreneurship in other countries. She also included a few examples of best social practices, such as Russian “Avoska (string-bag) gives hope”.

After the presentation, visitors were encouraged to ask questions about the application process, scholarships and International Preparatory Programmes in Russian and English. Chinese students also asked about student life and dormitories in Moscow.

Moreover, the representatives of the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation talked with Alexandra Moskovskaya and discussed the systems of social entrepreneurship in both Russia and China.
