Student Life

Our students study in the center of one of the world’s most important cities and quickly become part of many dynamic communities. The entire university comes together throughout the year for events like HSE Day in Gorky Park and our students take great pride in HSE traditions. Student groups and athletics offer something for everyone, from performing arts and debate clubs to football and swimming teams.

Studying and living in the center of Moscow puts HSE students in a unique position. On top of the traditional university activities that they enjoy, our students take advantage of opportunities for high-caliber professional internships, for example, with international businesses, media companies, and design firms. And of course Moscow’s vibrant cultural life has plenty to offer for everyone. 

The HSE community is especially welcoming to international students. Our staff and students help to make our Moscow campus, with its dormitories, libraries, and cafeterias, your new home away from home. Upon arrival, all international students are welcome to participate in a special orientation session where you can learn about studying at HSE and living in Moscow.

The International Students Support Unit will help exchange and visiting students with any questions relating to their stay here, from documentation and housing to social activities. Full-degree students enjoy the support of their respective programme offices, as well as the Career Development Centre. International students are immediately matched with Russian Buddies, HSE student volunteers who help new students settle in and give tips on life in Moscow.
